The buyer decision
Choose a functional planning alternative or stay, excluding cheaper-replacement economics and agency stack design.
Criteria & methodologyA Runn alternative should address a specific planning gap. Moving the same people and projects to another calendar does not establish that the new model handles the missing requirement better.
Define whether the issue concerns tentative work, availability, booking conflicts or another observable behavior. This guide considers functional fit rather than replacement economics.
Three routes to compare
| Route | Reason to investigate |
|---|---|
| Keep Runn | The existing configuration can meet the requirement |
| Evaluate Float | Its schedule and capacity model may fit the missing view |
| Evaluate Resource Guru | Its booking-clash model may match the needed scheduling decision |
The routes are not ranked. The buyer’s actual requirement determines which deserves evidence.
Inspect the current product first
Runn documents individual tentative-project planning for Lite and Legacy plans. The guide points Standard and Advanced customers to different instructions. Check the buyer’s current edition rather than assuming one documented path applies everywhere.
A configuration change is a valid outcome if it resolves the functional gap. Keeping the product is not an automatic recommendation if the required behavior remains unproved.
Alternatives with different documented emphasis
Float’s capacity and scheduling guide supplies a schedule-centered model around people, projects and availability.
Resource Guru documents booking clashes and a waiting list, including the difference between unconfirmed waiting-list work and accepted bookings. It also distinguishes Total Hours behavior. Inspect the booking type actually needed.
These are documented directions, not independent usability or accuracy findings.
Evaluate the gap under matching conditions
Use the same fictional team, commitments and availability in all considered routes. Add a commitment that exceeds the intended person’s available time. Ask what the displayed state means and which decision remains with the planner.
Include tentative work if it is central to the requirement. Do not assume a booking conflict and uncertain demand are the same planning concept.
Record the offered edition, demonstrated result and unresolved limits. No product trial has been performed by this publication.
Switch only for a material fit improvement
Keep Runn where its demonstrated configuration answers the requirement. Choose an alternative when its record model resolves the gap and remaining limits are acceptable.
